Priorities

Our youngest daughter, A, has decided that she NEEDS to be read a Shel Silverstein poem every night before bed. My wife and I both enjoy his poems as well, so it's been fun for us.

Last night, my wife read her the poem about the polar bear in the Frigidaire. A's eyes got very big, and you could tell that she was concerned by the situation. When my wife asked her what was wrong, she said "The bear would eat ALL THE BUTTER!"

  • How funny! Amazing the paths the imagination of a child takes.

My almost 8-year-old nephew is a huge Shel Silverstein fan as well, and has all the poetry books and a couple of the others.

That reminds me, I haven't posted one of those poems on my blog in a while...

  • Ali - See, butter's one of her favorite things in the world, so you can imagine how deeply this would affect her.

nwg - I thought of you when I started to post this one! We have a pretty good collection of his stuff. I still think the poetry books are the best. Also, I have a very hard time reading stuff from Runny Babbit.
